Christina Guala-Goodwin
Christina Guala-Goodwin is a saxophonist, vocalist, composer, and educator based in Adelaide, South Australia.
Performing regularly on both saxophone and vocals, Christina has played in venues across the country. Since graduating with First Class Honours at the Elder Conservatorium of Music in 2016, Christina has been a valued member of the Adelaide music scene and has performed in a number of esteemed ensembles. Not only performing frequently in Adelaide, Christina has performed in Japan in 2019 as a vocalist and toured nationally with the Hilltop Hoods in 2022/23 on saxophone.
In 2019, Christina released her debut album for saxophone quartet, It’s Been a While, recorded and produced at Wizard Tone Studios under the direction of Adam Page. The album showcases her original compositions, arrangements, and soprano saxophone work.
In 2020, she became the inaugural winner of Creative Original Music Adelaide (COMA)’s Emerging Jazz Writers Award, leading to the release of her jazz octet EP What It Is, featuring her as a vocalist.
She has since composed for a number of projects, including commissioned works for COMA, Women in Jazz Adelaide (WIJA), the Adelaide Festival Centre’s International Jazz Day (2022) and Generations In Jazz.
A passionate music educator, Christina has worked extensively across Adelaide directing ensembles and tutoring saxophone. She is the current coordinator of the JazzSA Superbands Program and has served as an ensemble director within the program for several years, fostering the growth of young jazz musicians in South Australia.
Christina is also currently the administrator for Creative Original Music Adelaide (COMA).
